As we observe Earth Month 2026, GDG Brunswick remains committed to leveraging AI for sustainability. We are turning our focus to our unique coastal ecosystem, exploring how technology can help us monitor, protect, and restore our shorelines.
In alignment with this year’s global theme, Our Power, Our Planet, we are highlighting how community-driven tech can drive environmental resilience. Don’t miss our upcoming Coastal Lab series this May, where we will use low-code solutions to architect local prototypes for our coast.

A Message from the Founding Organizer
Greetings from the Golden Isles!
This month, our "Global Research for Local Action" mission went international. Thanks to a strategic bridge built by Amol Sagar, GDG Brunswick's Lead Contributor, I’ve been aligning our Sociology of Tech and GenAIx-powered Agentic Governance curriculum with Dr. Sangeeta Sharma and the new SIES AI Center in Mumbai.
Whether discussing global policy in India or building prototypes here in Georgia, our goal is the same: ensuring AI works for equity and coastal resilience. We’re bringing that global perspective home this May with our upcoming Coastal Lab series, led by visionary Sindhu Manivannan, CEO of ScriptNxt.

We are thrilled to announce that our chapter has been officially selected for the GDG Creator Studio 2026 cohort! This exclusive program provides us with a professional-grade recording kit, including high-end cameras, microphones, and lighting, alongside expert media training from Google.
What does this mean for our community? Starting soon, you’ll see a major upgrade in how we share our stories. We’ll be using this gear to produce high-quality podcasts, behind-the-scenes workshop clips, and polished interview content with our guest speakers. Our goal is to bring you closer to the action and make our educational content more accessible and engaging than ever before.

We are still buzzing from the incredible reception of National AI Literacy Day 2026! Our very own "AI for a Greener Tomorrow" Community Challenge Lab was officially selected as a premier national resource, highlighting GDG Brunswick’s commitment to tech and sustainability.
Developed by our leadership team, Naomi Latini Wolfe, Ajay Singh Karayat, and Ramanathan Sivakumar, this interactive lab is doing more than just teaching AI; it’s empowering the next generation to solve environmental challenges.
From the Golden Isles to India
The impact has officially gone global! We are proud to share that schools across Tamil Nadu, India, are now adopting the lab for students in both the State Board and CBSE systems. It is an honor to see a project born in Brunswick now serving as a bridge to AI literacy for students halfway across the world.

Have you ever had an idea to help our coast, maybe a better way to report an oil spill or track local litter, but didn't know how to build the app?
This May, GDG Brunswick is partnering with Sindhu Manivannan, CEO of ScriptNxt, for a 4-week Coastal Lab. We are moving past the hype of AI and getting our hands dirty with a Build-to-Learn series designed for everyone—no coding experience required.
What You’ll Build:
Using Google’s Gemini and AppSheet, you will learn to turn a simple conversation into a working digital tool. Whether you are passionate about Marine Safety, Oil Spill Response, or Environmental Justice, this lab will give you the skills to architect a solution.

Rebecca Young, a 12-year-old from Glasgow, Scotland, noticed homeless people enduring freezing nights and designed a solar-powered backpack containing a heated electric blanket. At age 11, she sketched the idea for a UK engineering competition with 70,000 entrants, researching solar panels, batteries, and wiring over two years.
Her innovation won awards, leading Thales to produce 30 prototypes, which were donated to Glasgow shelters and provided up to 8 hours of warmth per charge, with 120 more planned.
Named to TIME's first "Girls of the Year" list in 2025, complete with a LEGO minifigure, Rebecca showed how empathy drives practical solutions, proving that kids can tackle real-world problems.
Youth Innovations' Value
Youth-led sustainable ideas like Rebecca's address urgent issues such as climate vulnerability and homelessness with fresh, low-cost tech. They foster resilience, as seen in her portable solar design aiding shelters during cold snaps.
