Happy August, builders!
There's a particular kind of light on the marsh in August. Golden, a little heavy, like the whole coast is catching its breath before the busy season rolls in. I love it. And this year it's landing right as two things I care about deeply collide: kids heading back to classrooms, and the holiday stretch when we get to choose, on purpose, whose businesses we pour our dollars into.
So this issue leans all the way in. We're shining a light on Black-owned businesses right here in the Golden Isles that are building with sustainability baked in, because supporting local and supporting the coast were never separate things. And for every family staring down a new school year, wondering what to do about AI, we made you something real: a plain-language toolkit for using it honestly, safely, and in a way that actually helps kids learn instead of skipping the thinking.
Let's make something good this month. 🌊

Pranjali’s journey proves that in the AI era, the baseline definition of "coding" has fundamentally shifted. Chatbots and LLMs can increasingly handle the heavy lifting of writing syntax. The modern developer's ultimate superpower, and what we must teach the next generation, is computational logic, problem identification, and system design.
